SOPHISTICATED MASTER BEDROOM WITH LAYERS, PATTERNS AND PRINTS

FINAL STRETCH

We are in the final stretch of project global sophisticated (Part 1). The kitchen is done, family room is 95% done and just a few more pieces for the master. Then we'll move on to Part 2 - the dining room, living room and foyer. Can't wait.

I have a love and hate relationship with knick knacks...I love the look of a well collected room of unique and beautiful pieces, but hate when it feels claustrophobic and cluttered. So, when I'm accessorizing clients homes I'm very conscientious of what I bring in. Art is a must; it adds character and personality. Plants, pillows and throws are accents for warmth. The rest are have to fit the vibe and have a practical purpose - whether it's to hold magazines, remote controls,  jewelry or loose change. I'll scour and search for those unique object pieces that tie the room together...good thing I like researching/shopping ;). The key is adding just a few pieces that balance out the room without overdoing it.

TRANSITION

This project was special to me because it had a different kind of goal in mind than the normal room redo. It was about transition and moving forward while cherishing all that's dear to you. I was nervous to taken on the project, but she trusted me and I didn't want to disappoint. We wanted the room to feel warm, happy, sophisticated, but not so serious and calming. I hope I was able to create a little retreat for her.

BALANCE OF SUBTLE AND BOLD

When you meet homeowners, who's taste don't exactly match up, your challenge is to help them see that different is good and can work together.  In this case, one likes clean, simple and subtle...and other likes color, funky and bold. Keeping the base neutral and bringing in color with a few select pieces is a great way to balance different styles. 

 

  

THE MASTER BEDROOM

I love the feeling of walking into a beautiful, serene master bedroom that can magically lift the day's stress away. These rooms are calling to me and it's saying 'time for a refresh'...I'm thinking new statement lighting, black and white art and to complete the scene...fresh, crisp, surrender-to-me bed linens. I'm ready for this update!
