DRESSING UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS

A modern twist on the traditional look for this classy client. Keeping it simple.

GREEN AND GOLD

So many pretty Christmas decorations everywhere you go, it's hard to choose a theme...but it's fun to change it up each year. Thinking lush greens and gold for our house this year.

SWEET BLUE BOHEMIAN

Last details in place for a little birthday girl. Happy 6th, R! May your new room be filled with sweet memories of laughter, silliness and adventures.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

Thanksgiving is one week away...and we are hosting! which means - no driving, no traffic, no antsy kids in the car for 5 (plus) hours ...just getting the house guests-ready and prepping meals. I'll take it. Some inspiration for the table, keeping it simple and letting the food so the rest.

CLEAN HOUSE

Ahhhh...Halloween decorations down. Time to bring in the holiday decor...but 1st let's enjoy the clean house.

COLOR BALANCE

One likes whites and greys, the other likes brights and bold. Think this is a nice happy medium. Windows, shades and pillows.

TODAY'S MOOD

Today is a chunky sweater, cozy blanket, squishy pillow, layered rugs and winter pastel kind of day. Bundle up.

SWEET. SIMPLE. MODERN.

COZY BREAKFAST CORNER

My latest project has a blank kitchen corner that has cozy bright breakfast nook written all over it. While pinning some inspirational images, this was the one the client's loved. Yay! Can't wait to build around this gorgeous vision.

SWEET, BLUE, BOHEMIAN

I love it when a kids, in this case a kindergartener, claims their creative independence. This girl was over her bubblegum pink room and had a specific color palette in mind - mint and navy. She was willing to give up her huge room to move into a smaller one as long as she was able to make it her own. Now, how can you not give her that creative freedom. I can tell she's going to be an awesome free spirit and I love it. I wanted to add another color to her mint and navy to create a full palette. And think coral is the perfect not pink, playful color. I was mindful to choose pieces that will grow with her as well as items that can easily be changed out...aka no minty painted walls. :)

FALL MOODBOARD

Cool, crisp, rustic....FALL! Feeling the change of seasons today!

FAMILY ROOM MADE FOR FAMILY TIME

This client wants a family room with 3 objectives - lounging, reading and getting cozy. Their style is more rustic, but they also want that fresh and modern feel. So, I combined the two - focused on the modern with the larger pieces and balanced it with warm rustic details, like leather, distressed wood and iron.

MIXING STYLES

Adding a few accessories to complete a family room: we are going for laid-back, modern with just the right amount of rustic warmth. The hardest part about shopping for others is holding back the urge to buy for yourself. But those pillows....<3.

FIND AND SEEK...

A little inspiration for today's shopping trip - sourcing cooling vintage accessories for extra large empty built-in bookcase!

MELLOW YELLOW

I'm noticing that I like pop yellow in my projects. A touch of sunshine just makes everything happier. ;P  Don't be afraid to add a little color into your home, it can really change the mood of the room.

LET'S LOUNGE AT THE LAKE, SHALL WE

I'm just going to pretend that this is my work station for the day. I would get a lot done here...with nothing but lake views, fresh air and wide open space. Wouldn't that be nice.

BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS

I love books...fiction, non-fiction, design books, fashion books, travel books, cookbooks, notebooks, etc. I love the feel of books, physically holding and flipping pages. I love how stories, information and details are collected and packaged for you to enjoy. And what do I love more than books, a room or walls of books. I could curl up in any of these rooms and let the stories take me away.

SUMMER BEACH DAYS AHEAD!

The school year is coming to an end, which means easy, breezy beach days ahead. Yay! One of these days, I will buy myself a Gray Malin piece that will transport me to the beach from my home all year long. In the meantime, I will go to the beach the old fashion way via Garden State Parkway and surround myself with coastal cool indigo accessories.

WORK AND PLAY CO-WORKING MEETING ROOM

Remember the old days of internet cafes...dark, dingy and depressing. Luckily, those gloomy spaces have evolved into bright, creative, community-centric co-working spaces. Deborah Engel, owner of Work and Play in South Orange, NJ created a co-working space for our local entrepreneurial professionals, who are looking for that outside-of-the-house work environment. And to boot, her space provides drop-in babysitting and mommy and baby classes. How cool is that?!

When Deborah asked me to help her style the space, I was thrilled. I loved the concept and her vision for the space, all I had to do was bringing pieces to complete the feel.

Here is the 1st completed room in their space, 'The Lounge' - for the occasional gatherings, small conferences, workshop type classes, etc.  The space is inviting, bright, open, creative and comfy. A perfect vibe to get your work juice flowing. My favorite spot is the bench... I could see myself working there with coffee by my side. :P  More pics of the other rooms...coming soon.

'SOMEONE SAY BACKYARD PARTY?!!

I'm so ready for summer entertaining and so happy that Memorial Day Weekend has become that summer kick-off weekend! Parades, picnics, BBQs and outdoor dinner parties!!! Getting together in the warmer weather is so much easier and more enjoyable when you can let the kids run crazy while you kick back with a cocktail in hand! And I love a pretty outdoor setting, even if it's a simple one. String lights go a long way in setting the scene. And the idea of throwing pillows around a low table is so cute, especially for the kids. And add... no-fuss food, yummy drinks, good company and let the good times roll! Happy summer everyone!

STYLING SHOOT

searching, shopping, shlepping, searching, shopping, shlepping... a mad rush to get 12 rooms completed in 3 weeks. It was all about the finishing pieces and accessories to make the rooms really come together and to life...from functional to awesome. Here are a few of my favorite shots. Styled by moi, designed by Karen B Wolf Interiors, photos by Christian Garibaldi

BLACK & WHITE MOROCCAN COOL

Who says black and white is boring and cold?! I say it's exciting and bold. :) It's probably my favorite color palette to work with - I love when a room has contrast and this is the epitome of contrast. I'm working on a master bedroom that a bit small, but mixing in patterns and textures along with accent pieces is going to this room awesome! The clients will love it so much that size of the room will be the last thing on their minds...I hope. Here's their mood board, we are going for cool, eclectic, modern moroccan.

ISO FABULOUS CHAIRS

We are on a hunt for new armchairs. The kids pretty much have trashed our current ones, mostly our fault for letting them snack, jump, climb and make forts with them. We had bought them for our 1st house, 8 years ago, so it's about time for new ones. We still need to be practical... for the kids, but want something fun with a little character. Probably not as much flair as these, but LOVE them. maybe someday.

THE MASTER BEDROOM

I love the feeling of walking into a beautiful, serene master bedroom that can magically lift the day's stress away. These rooms are calling to me and it's saying 'time for a refresh'...I'm thinking new statement lighting, black and white art and to complete the scene...fresh, crisp, surrender-to-me bed linens. I'm ready for this update!

GO GREEN

I LOVE the color green! Emerald green, kelly green, jade green, olive green, lime green, you name it I love every green I've met. I don't think I realized how much I loved it till recently, but it makes sense. As much as I love color, I tend to go for neutral tones - whites, taupes, grays and wood accents. So, it's only natural that green fits in that mix. Green is not only the color of Spring and growth, but also balance and harmony...and I know I definitely use some more balance in my home.

KIDS ART SPACE

This is probably the cleanest this art table has ever been...and will be (as the kids will be come home soon). We made our breakfast nook into an art space. This way they can make their mess while I make mine.

COFFEE TABLE STYLE

I love a nicely styled coffee table. It's the small things that speak to me. It's a simple way to welcome to your guest, make them feel comfortable and give them a little taste of who you are. Yep, I get all of that from a coffee table, that is if it's arranged well. And I know it's not always easy, especially with little kids, but it is possible.

If you want to tell a little story with your table, there are 4 elements to it:
The 1st one is obviously - coffee table books or magazine, any sort of flip through book of your interests and hobbies. Come to think of it, photo albums would be great here. Not many people have them anymore, but think they are so nice to have. Need to put that one on my list of to-dos. Two - the quintessential tray, all those little do-dads... remote, coasters, candles, etc. look great when they are organized on a tray. Three - an interesting object that says a little something about you - maybe it's a souvenir you've collected on your travels or something your kid has made or just something you thought was pretty in the store. The final fourth item - would be color, this could be a plant,  flowers or little snack bowl...just to liven up the mix.

And there you have it a little invitation to stay for a little while. Who knew a table could do so much.
