FROM CONCEPT BOARD TO REAL LIVING SPACE

I'm so happy to see this project coming together so nicely. Now, on to art and styling.

CORAL, NAVY AND GOLD

This teen room makeover is going to look HOT!

SWEET SITTING SPOT

After a week of gazillion fabric swatches, paint colors and measurements...its nice to see a fabric select (made weeks ago), completed and installed!

SUNROOM MAKEOVER

Yay! custom bench is in and it turned out perfectly! I didn't take any before pics, so just imagine this "music room" packed with instruments, speakers, equipment, boxes of wires and a stool in the corner. Kinda felt like a storage room. Now, with lots of sitting/lounging space, definitely see more jam sessions happening in here.

FROM SWEET TO FABULOUS

I was a little nervous with doing an all white room, but it was one of the things this 10yr old really wanted. And like most tweens, when they have an idea in their head, it's really hard to change their minds...so, you embrace it and make it work. :)  With blank walls, you really need to bring in texture, color and contrast to add some warmth and character. For color, we added pink and aqua accent pieces throughout the room; for texture, the faux fur rug and throws for texture; And for contrast/balance...the mirrored wall hanging, silver pouf, chrome finishes and ceiling decal was just the right amount of bling to make it fabulous.

SOPHISTICATED MODERN

We made a dark, heavy and traditional living room feel light, bright and modern with just a few new pieces. The coffee table is almost twice as wide than the old leather ottoman, but the glass and chrome finish really opened up the room. Table and chairs are from other vendors but compliment the table perfectly with the same metal finish.

And this is what an updated living room looks like when your kids are no longer wiping their hands on furniture and you're not nervous that they'll crash into corners or break glass.

In the dining room, we simply updated red walls and traditional art ....with cozy dark charcoal gray paint and modern fretwork wall decor. All is set for an initimate dinner party.

FROM TODDLER ROOM TO BIG KID ROOM

I love my mini clients. The ones going from little kids to little big kids... settling into their own unique self. ready to say bye to their "baby" room and make it their own (well with a little help :) just to make sure it's not all tie-dye and bright lights everywhere). They get super excited to tell me what they want, show me pictures of their dream room...and then when it's all done their expressions are the sweetest.

TRANSITION

This project was special to me because it had a different kind of goal in mind than the normal room redo. It was about transition and moving forward while cherishing all that's dear to you. I was nervous to taken on the project, but she trusted me and I didn't want to disappoint. We wanted the room to feel warm, happy, sophisticated, but not so serious and calming. I hope I was able to create a little retreat for her.

FINISHING TOUCHES

I love working in an empty space and creating it from scratch, but I also love projects that just need a few touches to bring it to life. On this project, the client had all the big pieces to work with and had a hard time figuring out what to bring in to make it feel more complete.

For me, it's easier to have a starting point... to see what the client already is drawn to and it's my job to take it to the next level. Art, accessories and accent items are the unnecessary necessities. They pull in the room, they bring in color, they compliment pieces that didn't work...they finish a room. In this house, each room has it's own purpose, it's own color scheme, it's own look, but it all worked together.

In the living room, pillows, accessories and art brighten and modernized what once was a dark, heavy and rustic room.

For the dining room, we added contrast, pattern and texture with a simple refresh of reupholstered seats and new window treatments.

With a little magic of shelves, baskets, bins and wall racks...a catch-all sunroom/playroom/office/bike storage area...is now an organized sunroom/office/kids space/bike area with everything in it's place.

Some pillows, touch of color and storage that doubles as accent pieces...win-win-win.

BALANCE OF SUBTLE AND BOLD

When you meet homeowners, who's taste don't exactly match up, your challenge is to help them see that different is good and can work together.  In this case, one likes clean, simple and subtle...and other likes color, funky and bold. Keeping the base neutral and bringing in color with a few select pieces is a great way to balance different styles.

OCEANFRONT VIBE

A little different than what I'm used to. My clients are much more sophisticated than I am...had to get into grown-up mode for this project.

DESIGN CONSULTATION A.K.A PERSONAL SHOPPER

Working on a midcentury modern styleboard for client who has great taste and loved to shop. But sometimes shopping without a vision becomes a bit messy. She just needed a little visual guidance. The sofa is hers, so worked around that and everything else fell into its place.

BOHO ACCENTS

Adding a little boho vibe to this ultra white home...and deciding whether to do teal cushions or go to neutral.

BRIGHT MIDCENTURY DINING ROOM

  • From formal to fun, rustic to modern, bland to bold. I'm loving the transition. Next up, finding Art to go with the new vibe!
